GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is an image retouching and is released under the GPLv3 license as free and opensource software. There are versions of GIMP tailored for most operating systems including MS Windows, Mac, and Linux. This software can be alternative from the others software picture editing like Adobe Photoshop. It is first released on 1995, and the last stable version is GIMP 2.8.
GIMP has tools used for image retouching and editing, free-form drawing, resizing, cropping, photo-montages, converting between different image formats, and more specialised tasks. Animated images such as GIF and MPEG files can be created using an animation plugin.
The developers and maintainers of GIMP have a product vision for GIMP to strive to be a high end free software graphics application for the editing and creation of original images, photos, icons, graphical elements of web pages and art for user interface elements.
Graphs produced by GIMP XCF format stored and can be exported to various image formats such as bmp, jpg, gif, pdf, png, svg, tiff, and many more. In GIMP you can also open your Adobe Photoshop file project (*.psd) and edit it on GIMP.
There are so many features in GIMP as mentioned above. You can also adding some plugins to GIMP for more features.

- Ubuntu, Debian, Mint :simply run on your terminal sudo apt-get install gimp
- OpenSuse : Simply run yast -i gimp or zypper in gimp
- Fedora : simply run yum install gimp
- Mandriva : Simply run urpmi gimp
